Breakfast nook redo

I had a regular sized dining table and chairs off of my kitchen area and it was just too big. I looked on Craigslist and found a listing for a beadboard table and 2 benches. The pictures were very dark and blurry and the place was 40 minutes away but she only wanted $40!! I drove out there and found out why. They were FILTHY! I don't mean "shabby" I mean nasty, filthy! So I scrubbed the heck out of them, used my old standby Kilz Cashmere white (2 coats) and it's perfect.
The table top was a tired looking golden oak. I sanded the heck out of it and noticed that it had too many spotty areas where the stain would come out uneven. I rubbed watered down dark brown paint on the surface with a rag (you could also use glaze). It still looked a little uneven so I MISTED it with espresso brown spray paint. I made sure not to get any one area otherwise it would look "painted". I went over the whole thing with a dark brown stain and voila! It looks like dark walnut.
