Well..I'm home but still trying to catch up. I had a blast in Washington DC..it's always nice to be home though!

Vacation Notice

I will be off to Washington DC this week and returning Tuesday, January 27th. I hope to catch some of the inauguration excitement, see the city and take lots of cool pictures!

Design A.D.D. strikes again..

Now here is the saga of my fireplace. It began life as boring, beige and undefined. This is the pic I took before we moved in:

Then I decided that it would be a good idea to texture it, and mixed paint with wall compound..

It looked a little more "Santa Fe" than I liked..
So after the Chocolate brown craze of '08 hit I went and painted a bunch of accent walls, trim, etc and the fireplace turned into Kelly Moore Cargo brown..then the tile didnt match, so after pondering it for a year, I walked into my daughters preschool and she had painted her fireplace tile so I said "why not!?"

Here it is, half taped off and with one square painted. By the way, I hate gold so I used metal paint to paint all the gold black.

This is the end result. The irony is, I think it looked better on day one! We never use it (it has little lights inside) so it was better when it just blended in, rather than try to be a feature. I may literally just go back to the beginning and paint the whole thing beige!!!!

By the way, the flash makes the color look almost mustard. Its a true brown...
